Here at Púca Púca Games, we want to provide a wide range of products to our customers, with the piece of mind that we are committed to having as little negative impact on our environment as possible. As anyone who buys or collects second hand games is aware, we are already helping the environment through our reuse of gaming products which prevent them from ending up in landfills. We aim to take this one step further by providing an environmentally friendly method of buying and receiving products online.
Packaging
One major element of this is our packaging. We have done extensive research to create a packaging solution that is both premium in feel, and adds no extra cost to our customers, as well as being 100% curbside recyclable.
Our packaging is made up of the following elements:
- Cardboard boxes: All of our items are shipped in boxes of varying sizes, all of which are 100% recyclable
- Recyclable packing tape which has been confirmed to be curbside recyclable in the UK
- Tissue wrapping and stickers that use materials and ink that can be easily recycled.
- Any inserts / cards that we add to orders (e.g. Thank you cards, fliers etc) are all printed on recyclable non-glossy paper / card and use inks that are acceptable by most curbside recycling programs
- In place of traditional bubble wrap we use a paper bubble wrap alternative, paper, or shredded cardboard depending on the item we are shipping.
- Any external stickers that we add to our packaging are also acceptable for most curbside recycling programs
We are extremely proud of our packaging, and have taken a great deal of care to ensure that each element can be recycled and is sustainably sourced. The driving force behind our packaging decisions are that we want our customers to have a premium experience when receiving our products, and be able to toss the entire packaging in a curbside recycling bin, knowing that each element is environmentally friendly.
Operations
As part of our daily operations, we use various materials for a variety of reasons. We endeavour to improve our daily operations to have as little impact on the environment as possible. For example, some of the considerations we have made are:
- When sending cables to customers, we tie each cable with string instead of using elastic bands, which are currently not curbside recyclable
- We recycle empty ink cartridges through a third party recycling solution instead of sending them to landfill through general waste.
- We occasionally use pens / markers as part of our daily operations. We always aim to use digital solutions for any internal documents we produce and rarely print any documents unless absolutely necessary. For any writing we need to do, we collect and recycle our empty pens / markers using an approved third party recycling solution
- For any operations that require us to use third party services (such as delivery / materials etc.), we consider all third party services based on their environmental impact and aim to work with companies that are committed to improving their environmental impacts
